MSN Chat Sept. 21, 2005
DishDiva says: Marty, welcome to MSN Live. Congratulations on being
the #1 chat guest this year on MSN Live!
Marty says: I want to throw a big shout out to everyone who has
been supporting me for the past twelve weeks.
willow1464 in Onstage_1 asks: Marty! Loved your performances last
night. Also loved your "hit single"--Trees! When can I buy it?
Marty says: I am going to record "Trees" ASAP and a proper
release, more like a full song, not the two minute version. You could
go to Lovehammers.com or download from MSN Music right now.
Frostyme2 in Onstage_1 asks: Marty, what was your best experience with
INXS?
Marty says: My best experience was having a few opportunities
to write with Andrew. He was very open and willing to share the art
of songwriting. I learned a lot that I am going to incorporate into my
future.
Marty says: And seeing Suzie eat JD's ass cake.
talk2court in Onstage_1 asks: Hi Marty!!! Do you know what you're
going to be doing yet?
Marty says: Now I am taking the momentum from the show and am
going to release a record and I am going to the opening act for the
INXS world tour. As my runner up prize when they said "JD you won"
they also asked me to open up the world tour.
Marty says: Even though I took second place they still
incorporated me into their future which is brilliant. Now say Jordis,
myself and the new INXS toured together that's kinds like Rock Star on
the road and I think that is a smart move.
madmaestro62 in Onstage_1 asks: Marty, LOVE the fact you stayed true
to yourself the entire time. What singer/band has influenced you the
most?
Marty says: Hi mad. i would say the singer who influence me the
most is Beck. I say Beck because he has records that are hard rocking
and records that are groovy. I love the fact he can get away with
anything and be creative and it connects with people.
Marty says: I would like the liberty to experiment with music
and have my friends and fans appreciate what I am doing and dig it.
Marty says: Nirvana has always kicked my ass.
Highnotediva1 in Onstage_1 asks: Marty - You have an amazingly intense
artistry. The likes of which I have seen very few times in my 30+ yr.
career as a singer. Were you always so intense and focused?
Marty says: Hi diva. I think I have just gotten intense from
the show. My first performances I was intense but dramatic with my
body. But kind of taking INXS's critiques and Dave's words of wisdom I
have tried to direct it with my eyes.
Marty says: or a big note at the end of a song. The
intensity has now grown through a different delivery.
LV2NLRVixen in Onstage_1 asks: Dave Navarro loves ya and I could tell
he meant it when he said.. Call me lets jam... Think you two might
ever get together and do any music.
Marty says: I hung out with Dave last night at the House of
Blues and we talked about it. This experience blows my mind--
to record with Dave Navarro.
RJsheare in Onstage_1 asks: It looked as though that you and JD had
become admirers of each others talent by the end of the contest, true?
Marty says: Definitely.
Marty says: I think we both saw a lot of ourselves in each
other. It was interesting that we conveyed that in different way.
Like YingYang. JD is like the outspoken old school rock star.
Marty says: very mysterious and full of drama.
Marty says: I am more introverted and I save the drama for the
stage. I portrayed my talent in a different way but when it boiled
down we are the same.
Marty says: An interesting thing is in week 2 of the show JD
and I had this moment, we were sitting poolside and we thought we
would be the final two. We laughed and said on the final night we
will share a glass of wine in the backyard.
Marty says: We actually got to share that glass of wine. We
both knew for some reason we would make it all the way.
Marty says: In the final moment JD said "I know that you won."
Marty says: I looked at JD and said "I know you won." When JD
won, I was proud of him.
jewelliett in Onstage_1 asks: What do u think about Jordis
...and do you have any plans on maybe writing something with her?
Marty says: Jordis and I discussed writing songs for her
record. She and I connected on the songwriting level with music
we dig and what people want to hear.
Marty says: I'll be meeting Jordis probably this weekend and
working on songs for her new record.
Emmielou72 in Onstage_1 asks: You seem so mature for a rocker,
how did you get so wise?
Marty says: Thanks.
profvegas in Onstage_1 asks: You have such great style. Who are you
influenced by?
Marty says: Definitely some David Bowie kind of dressy up for
the occasion. Stepping it up.
Skfwolf1 in Onstage_1 asks: Since the show last night the message
boards have been flowing with support for you. Have you had a chance
to view these comments and what is your take on all the talk?
Marty says: I haven't had the chance to log onto MSN yet but i
am going to dig in for an entire weekend and read all the comments
from the users and the fans.
ErinWilson4 in Onstage_1 asks: Are you pure rock or do you like other
types of music?
Marty says: I want to say I like all types of music but i am all
about loud music and bombastic drums. That is all I need.
Opt24 in Onstage_1 asks: What is your favourite performance of the
show?
Marty says: First off, mine was Mr. Brightside acoustic ten
minutes before the show. That was the first time I stood out from
the pack and people noticed who I was.
Marty says: My favorite other performance. Suzie's Bohemian
Rhapsody because her eyes were wicked.
Marty says: The best performance on the show was Man That Sold
the World. Probably the best performance I have seen in my entire
life.
DishDiva says: I know you need to run. From all of the fans here
supporting you on MSN , congratulations and best of luck!
Marty says: I am truly blown away by the support from all the
fans on MSN and I promise I will try to dig in and read everybody's
comments and try to respond. I respect what you have done for me and
the career you have given me now.
Marty says: It is because of all the fans that i am where I am.
Marty says: Don't worry about me. I am fine with the outcome. I
have the best of both worlds. I am going to tour with INXS and
perform my own original material.
DishDiva says: It was a late night last night.
DishDiva says: We had to let Marty go and get some sleep.
