   Week 3: Episode 7
From Marty's Blog:

July 23rd

INXS (Garry and Tim) let us see our performances, and I learned a lot. I need to change up my energy for the next performance and I'm psyched. I may take a fast song and make it slow or rock out a ballad. The fact is I need to embrace whatever song I get and find my voice within the lyrics.

Song Selection is getting extremely more intense each week. All of us are trying to get songs that we can sing and perform well. I went the mega melodic "Lithium" by Nirvana. The song has the best of both worlds, smooth quite verses and loud bombast choruses. I get to sing and scream. I 'm excited to perform it. The tempo is a lot slower than the high energy tunes I have done in the past weeks.

We are all memorizing lyrics and going to rehearsal. At rehearsal I was contemplating doing "Lithium" as an acoustic but I felt the choruses needed the over the top drums to do the song justice. I was also thinking of playing guitar but don't want to be anchored down so I scratched that idea.

All the singers are keeping their performances to themselves in an effort to blow us all away when we get to see them on stage on performance day. I got some tricks up my sleeve as well!!! We celebrated Jessica's 26th Birthday. She accomplished so much in 26 years and she is a strong woman. What she really wanted for her birthday was to see her man Brandon. She seemed kind of lonely without her lover and I think she had an overall mellow birthday. After dinner I talked everyone into going on the lawn and watching sunset together with a glass of wine. It was so nice to chill-out for an hour and stress about the songs and lyrics.
